Can Independent Music Survive Coronavirus?
This series for Virgin Radio tells the story of UK independent music and how it changed the world forever. But the industry, already in a precarious position, is now facing up to a pandemic that has decimated the live industry and posed an existential threat to one of our greatest exports.
Each episode begins in a city that has played a vital role in the story of independent music. We hear from musicians in Sheffield, Glasgow, London and Manchester who were all set to launch their careers. It will give a voice to the new, up-and-coming artists and ensure that we tell the story of the post-Covid struggle of indie bands and venues. But it will also ask serious questions about the streaming economy and its effects on music.
Presented by Eddy Temple-Morris we hear from New Order's Stephen Morris, KT-Tunstall, Lulu, Crispin Hunt, the Mad Professor and many more.
